Step into the soothing art of Sashiko with our thoughtfully curated repair kit - repair holes, rips or stains using some of our naturally-dyed reclaimed cotton thread and a vintage block-printed cotton patch.
 
The patches within this kit have been cut from a beautifully soft vintage tablecloth and feature a sepia hand block-printed design on a faded indigo blue background. The background colour varies from patch to patch. If you'd prefer a different look, you could always use the reverse side of the patch instead which features a subtle tie-dye pattern on a darker indigo background.
 
The thread is rescued 'mill waste cotton thread' which has been hand-dyed by Caroline Bawn of Gorgeous Yarns in her dye kitchen here in Cornwall using a combination of natural and/or low-impact dyes. All the colours are fixed with a mineral mordant (alum) which ensures they are light and colourfast*. It has a tight twist which won't split apart as you weave, similar to that of traditional Sashiko cotton thread.
 
The entire kit is packed up inside one of our iconic chain-stitched paper bags.
 
This kit includes:
3 x Indigo Block-Printed Cotton Patches: 1 patch (19cm x 14cm) & 2 patches (15cm x 15cm). All sizes are approximate. Each bundle contains a mix of patterns and colours i.e. some faded indigo and some darker indigo. 100% cotton fabric. Washable at 40 degrees.
